what is BrainWaves?

In BrainWaves, you play as a sheep using mental effort to convert a rock into grass by typing words, unlocking upgrades and mind-controlling other animals to speed up brainwave production.

It sits in the Prestige / Numbers / Narrative / Minimalist corner of the genre. Like most idle games it runs on a simple loop — earn, reinvest, automate — but the depth is in how long that loop keeps unfolding.
